Dude! Look what I made? Yes, I know it is August and I'm wearing a winter hat and a sweatshirt, but look how pretty it is!!!! I am a writer. Storytelling is in my bones, and story is my magic. I am revising my adult mirrored worlds manuscript with the guidance of the amazing @kristindwyer and I'm so excited for this book. This is my happy little life.

Also, yes I do still say "dude" when I get excited. It can't be helped. ❤️

It's hard to explain the deep rooted sorrow that l

It's hard to explain the deep rooted sorrow that lives like roots in my soul missing my mama. She's been gone too many years and her face is frozen in time, but I just keep getting older. I set her ashes free here at the top of the world, just like she asked. And I came back again wishing I could hear her voice just one more time. The wind blew and the hawks cried with me, and I know she was there. Her arms wrapped around me in the wind's loving embrace, and I know she followed me home. She's with me always. In my memories and my heart and in my smile. For a love that big can never truly disappear.

My best idea started many years ago. My fellas and I have a birthday cake fight in honor of my birthday. 🎂 It's ridiculous and funny and slimy and fabulous. I hope to do this long into having grandkids and great grandkids. I highly recommend being silly. Life is more fun when you're a giant lovable goober.

The last sunset for this year around the sun and oh what a beautiful sunset it is. When I wake I will be a year older according to my driver's license, but my heart shall always be young and free. I'm so thankful for everything. Truly everything. I revised two novels and queried my heart out, full requests and so many I wish I could have this to fuel the fire and persistence in my heart. I wrote another novel at 120k! She's glorious and in revision. She shines so bright already, she can only get better, and so can I. I am inevitable.

I got to join my writing community in Oregon and dream up another world I want to write. I drew beautiful illustrations for amazing authors and made new friends. I'm so ridiculously grateful for my life and getting to walk barefoot, playing dress up with my husband and boys by my side. I can't wait for what tomorrow will bring.

I am so honored to teach fantasy writing to kids at @loftliterarycenter for another year of summer camps. I couldn't possibly adore these kids more. We generated ideas, built characters, a fantasy world with magic rules and an outline. We even found love and sympathy for our villain. 💕 📚

I had the delightful honor to meet one of my liter

I had the delightful honor to meet one of my literary heroes, Adrienne Young at her Writing With The Soul Residency Retreat in Oregon. She's just as magical and fabulous in person. ✨

I have adored her work for years. Her amazing agent Barbara Poelle spoke in Minneapolis talking about querying and she spoke of Adrienne's debut novel SKY IN THE DEEP. She spoke with so much heart and the hook Vikings meets Superwoman was brilliant. I ordered it immediately, and that began my journey being a loyal reader. I think FABLE is my favorite because my soul is half pirate and half potato 😉 but THE UNMAKING OF JUNE FARROW still lives rent free in my head. I joined her writing workshops and became part of her community and I'm endlessly grateful for all of it. I hope to join more events with her someday. If you haven't read her books go now! You are missing out.

The journey of a creative heart forms us slowly into warriors. Ever standing back up after every no. Persisting. Because we need to tell stories from deep in our bones. A week in Oregon with the amazing writer women of Writing With The Soul hosted by one of my literary heroes Adrienne Young was so delightful. My little introverted heart went all in and shared and was vulnerable and cried and learned and laughed and grew my writer community. This journey is made for the stubborn and I am inevitable.
